A Quick Message to GDS Members
A whirlwind of events unfolded today for GDS. The day started with GDS at two locations dealing with Mother Nature. Rain drenched Softball Fields in Hammonton and a continually wind driven Wiffle Ball Tournament in Camden.
GDS decided to work on the softball fields to get them playable for the later games, but even that hard work wasn't enough. 2 inches of rain just 8 hours prior proved to be too much to overcome.
At the Charity Wiffle Ball Tournament, the tough decision to nix Wiffle Ball as the event for 36 teams (over 150 participants) was made 1 hour prior to the start, in lieu of a more wind friendly Kickball Tournament.
While, maybe both decisions may not have been the most popular ones, they both needed to be made with the safety and overall enjoyment of the GDS Members in mind. Wiffle Ball with 30mph continual winds, equipment blowing through the air, softball in swamp like conditions, and the possibility of players twisting knees and/or ankles in the mud are all situations GDS will always do our best to avoid.
After a looong day of making several tough decisions, hands on hard work, reading critical opinions on facebook, and wanting to grow and do the Right thing for all GDS Members, things were put into perspective when listening to the father of Cyber Bullying Victim, Tyler Clementi speak at the Rutgers Charity Wiffle Ball Tournament.
Life is extremely hard sometimes, and these "games" we play, they are our escape, our chance to do something easy and fun. Glory Days Sports will continue to listen to ALL opinions both positive and negative. We will continue fix what needs to be changed. We will continue to keep the safety of GDS Members at the forefront of all decisions. Glory Days Sports will Always Deliver The FUN (even if it must be delayed due to Mother Nature).
Extremely Appreciative,
-Glory Days Sports
