Roller Hockey Preview
Here at the Glory Days News Desk, the new Roller Hockey Season is amongst us. We sat down with goaltender star of the Devilns Danglers General Rosco Gang Green, to give us a rundown of all the teams and his predictions for the 2011 Spring Season.
Now, before we start the interview, I would like to inform our readers about the General Rosco Gang Green. He is know for wearing Green in his wardrobe and has sever anger issues when it comes to sporting events. He was kicked out of a Phillies game for punching a Mets fan, he was escorted out of his section for choking a Devils fan, and he was told politely to stop revealing his left bottom butt cheeks at a Philadelphia Liberty WNBA game.
So Gang Green what are your predictions for the 2011 Roller Hockey season in Glory Day Sports?
“My team the Devilns Danglers is going to go undefeated and I will even go to the extent that I will not allow a single goal for the entire season.”
That is a bold prediction, shouldn’t you at least wait to see what the competition is before you make such a gutsy assumption.
“I didn’t play 30years of outdoor hockey, to be timid about my God giving abilities. I was put on this Earth for two things. One to seduce women with a mean air guitar. And two to be the greatest outdoor hockey goaltender ever.”
What about the other teams? For example the Dirty Dragons?
“Why are they dirty? Are Dragons suppose to be cleanly. Did they all of sudden forget to wash themselves, and became a ferocious roller hockey team. Should I be more scared of a dirty dragon, or a regular dragon? I’m asking. Cause, I don’t know the difference.”
How about the Camel Blues?
“Is that suppose to be the new brand of Camel Lights. For one its lame that Camels decided to change the branding of Camel lights to Camel Blues. But its even lamer to name your roller hockey team after this monumental occasion. That’s like saying you’re a really big fan of political correctness.”
I’m going to mention some other teams, and just shut out whatever comes to your mind.
Weekend Warriors
“Do they know that every game is on Tuesday.”
Irukandi
“Is that Japanese for I suck”
Motley Crew
“A bunch of guys with long hair, and a sub-pair guitar riffs. I was more of a Poison fan in my day.”
Chiefs
“Lacks originality. Why doesn’t anybody name their team after Rob Lowe’s 80s classic Young Blood. The day I see a team called the Hamilton Mustangs, I will be a happy man.
Penalty Box Heroes
“Sounds like a bunch of fat guys, that just want to fight.”
Shoot to Score
“I thought the objective in hockey, was to shoot to injure your opponent.”
Natural Lights
“I’ll pass, and go with a Pabst Blue Ribbon”
Free Agents 1
“They have to be good, since no other team picked up these players.”
Team Ed Pollart
“Sounds like a respectable team.”
Ok, Thank You General Rosco Gang Green of the Devilins Danglers. Today is the beginning of the Glory Day Sports Roller Hockey Season, check it periodically with updates and scores. Or read more in the blog section, for more weekly newsletter updates.

A whirlwind of events unfolded today for GDS. The day started with GDS at two locations dealing with Mother Nature. Rain drenched Softball Fields in Hammonton and a continually wind driven Wiffle Ball Tournament in Camden.
GDS decided to work on the softball fields to get them playable for the later games, but even that hard work wasn't enough. 2 inches of rain just 8 hours prior proved to be too much to overcome.
At the Charity Wiffle Ball Tournament, the tough decision to nix Wiffle Ball as the event for 36 teams (over 150 participants) was made 1 hour prior to the start, in lieu of a more wind friendly Kickball Tournament.
While, maybe both decisions may not have been the most popular ones, they both needed to be made with the safety and overall enjoyment of the GDS Members in mind. Wiffle Ball with 30mph continual winds, equipment blowing through the air, softball in swamp like conditions, and the possibility of players twisting knees and/or ankles in the mud are all situations GDS will always do our best to avoid.
After a looong day of making several tough decisions, hands on hard work, reading critical opinions on facebook, and wanting to grow and do the Right thing for all GDS Members, things were put into perspective when listening to the father of Cyber Bullying Victim, Tyler Clementi speak at the Rutgers Charity Wiffle Ball Tournament.
Life is extremely hard sometimes, and these "games" we play, they are our escape, our chance to do something easy and fun. Glory Days Sports will continue to listen to ALL opinions both positive and negative. We will continue fix what needs to be changed. We will continue to keep the safety of GDS Members at the forefront of all decisions. Glory Days Sports will Always Deliver The FUN (even if it must be delayed due to Mother Nature).
Extremely Appreciative,
-Glory Days Sports

Living the "Glory Days" in South Jersey
Adults joining sports leagues might seem eager to relive their glory days. But really, if you join the right league, it's possible to enjoy your athletic experience like never before.
That's the opportunity afforded by Glory Days Sports, the fastest-growing adult sport and social club in South Jersey.
Owned and run by four best friends, Glory Days Sports offers a blend of competition and comaraderie that's reminiscent of school, travel or even gym class athletics -- but without the same pressure or stress. It's a sport and social "club," but it's inclusive and fun, not exclusive and intimidating.
Glory Days Sports currently sponsors a number of different sports leagues in Voorhees, Marlton, Cherry Hill, Hammonton, Winslow, Berlin, Waterford, Mount Laurel and Medford and plans to add several new leagues in other parts of the area.
According to co-owner Jamie Connor, he and partners/pals Matt DeNafo, Nick Gargano and Mark DeNafo like to form personal relationships with each player in their leagues.
"At least one of us goes to each game, and we like to chat with the players about the game and how life is going," Connor said. "This gives us a great perspective on what they want and how we are doing delivering it. So far, feedback could not be better."
In two years in existence, Glory Days Sports has seen its original coed softball league balloon from seven teams to 38 teams. Dodgeball leagues currently include 24 teams, men's basketball leagues have 16 teams, men's and coed flag football leagues have 10 teams in the winter, the coed kickball league had 12 teams last fall, and Connor expects that number to double this spring. Glory Days Sports also offers leagues in indoor and outdoor soccer, roller hockey, indoor and sand volleyball and women's field hockey.
If you want to play but can't get a team together, you can register as a "Free Agent," and GDS will unite you with a team. "This has been a huge success," O'Connor said, "as some 'Free Agent' teams have been together since our first year. They play in several leagues and sports now together. They have all formed tight friendships and that makes it all worth the time and effort we put in."
Glory Days Sports also believes in giving back to its players, both by making participation affordable and by offering incentives for repeat teams/players to continue playing every season. GDS also runs giveaways throughout each season -- the latest were: Teams that registered by a given date were given a free Deuce Brand Watch; and one GDS member who played in the winter season will receive two round-trip plane tickets from Philadelphia to Las Vegas and three nights at the MGM Grand.
Spring leagues are kicking off throughout the month of April. Find more information on the Glory Days Sports website.
